Join in the third installation of the nation’s only nighttime arts celebration focused exclusively on original artwork. Glow has commissioned 15 interactive art projects to illuminate Santa Monica’s iconic pier and beach. This massive outdoor museum, where art exists not just to be seen, but to be experienced is one of the largest public art events in the world. Many Santa Monica restaurants will have specials, as well as extended hours, with local hotels offering special rates and package. Plus, several of Santa Monica’s spas and salons are offering specials on beauty treatments, with additional discounts on yoga classes. Saturday, 7 pm-3 am
Artifacts of a Life Lived by the Living (to Live)
Curated by artist Chris Johanson, this exhibition celebrates the act of art-making and the necessity of the creative process. Johanson has selected a group of artists who create in service of bringing balance and order to their lives. AuraYoga
The guys behind AuraCycle, are opening a hot yoga studio at WeHo’s Sunset Plaza. The space features their signature ambient lighting system, that customizes each class. Good Food Fridays
Enjoy art, music, food, and more during this kick-off of the Autumn season. Front Porch Cinema
Fall doesn’t mean the end of outdoor movies! Santa Monica Pier has Front Porch Cinema this fall. It’s a Friday film series that features an eclectic line-up of movies, music, drinks and snacks. This year the series partners with Film Independent and kicks off the season with Los Wild Ones, a documentary that goes behind the scenes of LA’s Wild Records. LAX Art Walk
For the first time, the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Art Program will present an original performance work at LAX, entitled Everywhere Nowhere. Directed and choreographed by Sarah Elgart, with an original score by Yuval Ron, Everywhere Nowhere is a site-specific, multi-sensory show of movement, media, and color. Projections are by director Kevin Kerslake and artist Stephen Glassman, and costume design by Swinda Reichelt. It was commissioned as part of the Influx: Art at LAX, an ongoing public art festival featuring the work of 45 Los Angeles-based artists and 11 original, site-specific installations located throughout LAX.
